April 27 Student School of Medicine Student Service Day

The hardworking students who worked with Habitat for Humanity take a well-deserved break.

For the first time in the School of Medicine's history, classes were cancelled to give students the opportunity to participate in a far-reaching day of service with community organizations and schools in the region.

Service Projects included:

  • Maryland Science Center demonstrations and mentoring
  • Habitat for Humanity home construction on North Fulton Avenue
  • Mini-Med for high school students visiting the School of Medicine
  • Sandtown Clean Block Initiative
  • Westside Elementary School mural painting
  • Washington Village cleanup along a 12-block area
  • Westport Elementary School mentoring about the dangers of smoking
  • Frederick, Bentalou and George Washington elementary schools classes on what its like to be a doctor
  • Reclaiming our Children and Community presentations to adults and children on good health.
